Rhyolite Ghost Town and Goldwell Open Air Museum
In 1904 Frank "shorty" Harris and Ernest Cross found quartz in the hills and amongst the quartz was gold. Soon the town prospered and grew over to a population of around 10,000. The town had hotels, stores, banks, and a school. Electricity was brought in and the town had two power plants.
Located 35 miles from Furnace Creek in Death Valley, and 5 miles from Beatty NV, this roadside attraction is worth checking out when you're in the area.
