The Sahara Hotel and Casino was a prominent hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada. It originally opened in 1952 as the Sahara Hotel and has had several renovations and expansions throughout its history. The hotel featured a Moroccan theme and was known for its iconic neon sign, which read "Sahara" with a rotating starburst.
The Sahara Hotel and Casino had various amenities and entertainment options including a casino with a wide selection of slot machines and table games, multiple restaurants, bars, and lounges, a pool area, a spa, and a theater for live performances. The hotel also had various accommodation options ranging from standard rooms to suites.
Over the years, the Sahara underwent multiple ownership changes and rebranding efforts. However, the property closed its doors in 2011 and underwent a major renovation. It reopened in 2014 as the SLS Las Vegas, under new ownership and management.
The SLS Las Vegas continued to operate for several years until it underwent yet another rebranding effort. In 2019, the hotel and casino officially became the Sahara Las Vegas, paying homage to its original name. Today, the Sahara Las Vegas features a blend of modern and vintage elements. The hotel offers a variety of room options, restaurants, bars, a casino, a rooftop pool, and a nightclub.
