Las Vegas's main areas: The Strip (Las Vegas Blvd, home to the mega-resorts), Downtown Las Vegas/Fremont Street (historic casinos, arts district, neon), the Convention Center corridor (business hotels), Summerlin (upscale residential west side), Henderson (family-friendly southeast suburb), and North Las Vegas (local area with off-Strip casinos).

The famous Las Vegas Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard South) stretches approximately 4.2 miles (6.8 km) from Mandalay Bay at the south end to the Stratosphere Tower at the north. Walking the full Strip takes about 1.5–2 hours each way. The Las Vegas Monorail and free trams connect some properties.

The Strip is glitzy and modern with the world's largest resort hotels (Venetian, MGM Grand, Bellagio). Downtown is older, more affordable, and grittier — centered on Fremont Street with its iconic 1,500-ft LED canopy show, vintage casinos, and a thriving indie restaurant/bar scene. Downtown has lower table minimums and a more authentic Vegas feel.

Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) sits about 1.5 miles east of the southern Strip. Mandalay Bay is a 5-minute drive; Bellagio about 10 minutes; the Stratosphere 15–20 minutes in normal traffic. Taxis and rideshares cost $15–25 to most Strip hotels. No direct rail connection exists yet.
