Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and two venues just west of the Strip have some of the biggest scares of the week. These are the ones we could confirm with each venue, starting from the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Oct. 23 roundup of Halloween hot spots.

Universal Horror Unleashed at AREA15. Universal's year-round horror attraction has four haunted houses: Universal Monsters, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blumhouse's The Exorcist: Believer and Scarecrow: The Reaping. Between houses, themed areas have roaming characters, live entertainment, and themed food and cocktails. AREA15 recommends it for guests 13 and older, and says tickets must be bought in advance and are date-specific. Plan on two to six hours. ScAREA15: Strange Circus. AREA15's Halloween night party, billed as Khan-O-Ween, takes over A-Lot, The Portal and The Wall on Saturday, Oct. 31, with doors at 8 p.m. Valentino Khan headlines a lineup that includes Henry Fong, Fenik, Aquaa and Shapeshftr, with aerialists and circus-style performers. It is 18+ with ID, and you must be 21 to drink.

Haunted Brunch at the Rio. This horror-comedy brunch show brings horror movies to life with acrobatics, comedy, dance and live scares, plus bottomless mimosas on some packages. It plays at The Venue inside the Rio Hotel & Casino. Friday shows start at 11 a.m. (seating from 10:30 a.m.), and Saturday and Sunday shows start at 1:30 p.m. (seating from 1 p.m.). Show-only tickets start at $35.98, with brunch, mimosa and VIP packages also sold. Parental discretion is advised for anyone under 15. Listing: https://www.vegasnearme.com/shows/haunted-brunch-2
