Elvis Presley performed the very first show at the International Hotel in July 1969. What was supposed to be a 4-week engagement lasted for seven years, selling out more than 600 shows at the hotel. He performed his final show, which would be the last before his death, in December of 1976. The hotel and casino are now known as the Westgate. A massive bronze statue of Elvis was erected a year after his death inside the hotel to honor the legendary musician and has hosted several Elvis related exhibits and conventions over the years. In 2016, the Westgate was successful in having the street in front of the resort renamed Elvis Presley Boulevard. The statue has been moved around the property over the years and is currently on display prominently in the lobby.
