Vegas restaurant icon Lotus of Siam put Thai food in our city on the national map — one food critic called it the “bestThai food in North America,” and chef Saipin Chutima has won a James Beard award (which is basically the Grammys of food). When Lotus announced their third location at Red Rock Casino, opening next week, locals rejoiced. The Thai food love doesn’t stop there: We’ve got incredible Thai food in town, and lots of it. But (and look, we’re not complaining)… why? Today, Vogue sits down with Mark Padoongpatt, Director of Asian and Asian American studies at UNLV, and subject of a recent Taste the Nation episode, to get the deets on how the Cold War brought Thai food to America, when Thai food took off in Vegas, and why one of the most popular menu items — pad Thai — was actually invented by the Thai government in the 1930s. Adele Reschedules Las Vegas Dates, Red Rock Casino Resort Announces New Additions including Lotus of Siam, Ghostbar Sets Opening Date | Ep. 128

Adele cancelled her Las Vegas dates at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace earlier in the year, but recently announced she will make good on those shows! "Weekends with Adele" will take place November through March. Red Rock Casino Resort will make some upgrades and add new restaurants. One of the new restaurants will be Lotus of Siam, a popular Thai spot. Ghostbar at the Palms will reopen! The rooftop lounge will feature live music this time around. She opened the first Vegas Massage Envy in 2005 alongside her husband of 30 years, Mario Hawkins. As an owner of multiple Massage Envy locations, Marissa is in the business of making individuals  feel good. But, through her charitable work  in the community she has been helping thousands of Las Vegans feel great. In October, the teams at Massage Envy donated over 1,200 massage and facial services (equivalent to $140,000) to the Philippine Nurses Association of Nevada in the appreciation of their hard work on the frontlines of the pandemic.  In February, Massage Envy and partners led a book drive that raised 4,000 books for 1st to 3rd graders to be able to take home for summer reading. In May, one healthcare hero from each of the 14 valley hospitals received a health and wellness package provided through the partnership of Orange Theory, Mama Bird, Las Vegas Hilton, Reflection Bay and Massage Envy.  To date, Marissa & her husband and the local Vegas Massage Envy team have donated over 200 new blankets and raised over $150,000 in spa services to give to our local US Vets organization.
